How to Start a Blog

*This is an affiliate post and I will receive commission through items purchased through the links.*

For years, I wanted to blogged about my teaching experiences, and now I have the platform to do it!  I am excited to get my work out to the world and share my thoughts and professional experiences.  Blogging has opened so many opportunities for me that I am glad to share my knowledge with you.

If you have a passion about a topic like me, blogging can work for you too!

When I made the conscious decision to blog, I went to Bluehost because of their reputation and inexpensive price.  Bluehost provides server space for your site, and they store all your files from your blog.

You can get a FREE domain name for an entire year when you purchase a 12 month plan from Bluehost.

I started with a basic plan, and in the future, I will upgrade my plan. If this is your first blog, I suggest you choose the basic plan too.

Next, register your domain name.  Make a list of names that you would like your domain name to be.  This is very important because it will be your brand name.

You want something that represents you and your blog. Also, make sure it is easy to type, so you will get all of your intended traffic.

I use WordPress for my blog.  It was easy to connect with Bluehost.  After you connect the two, you are able to blog!

You can design the blog any way you like.  I purchased a Genesis framework and Pretty Darn Cute theme.

How I Paid $20,000 on My Student Loan in One Year

A year has passed since my commitment to pay off my student loan debt began.  I made the commitment in November 2017, but I consider March 2018 the date that I actually began making large payments towards the debt.  To date, I have paid off $15,448.49 in principle of my student loan.  I did not […]

How to Create a Welcoming Classroom Environment

Teachers are pillars of the community and are esteemed as leaders of the educational system.  Our mannerisms, behaviors, speaking skills, and writing are taught, modeled, and reinforced.  We stand at our doors and encourage students to come into our room with open minds, ready to learn, practicing good citizenship or behavior.  As a middle/high school […]
